The Middle Years – Years 7 to 9

At Norwest we recognise that students in their Middle Years have different social, intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual needs and aspirations from students in the Primary and Senior years. It is a time of significant personal growth and reflection where emerging teens are often challenging their own system of beliefs and ideals. They require a specialised, guided approach to their schooling, meeting their needs in a unique way so that they emerge as confident and resilient young people ready for the Senior Years. Educational research supports the principle of Middle Schooling from both caring and learning perspectives and Norwest was one of the first schools in NSW to embrace this concept.
